Stylianos Kyriakides

I was watching late-night Summer Olympics coverage last night when I happened to see an NBC special on Greek marathon runner Stylianos Kyriakides, who ran in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, then won the 1946 Boston Marathon against tremendous odds. It was a fine, enjoyable piece.

Here's a Hellenic Voice piece on the special itself. I'm still looking for a good online account of Kyriakides' amazing story. There's a recent book, Running With Pheidippides: Stylianos Kyriakides, the Miracle Marathoner, by Nick Tsiotos, Andy Dabilis, and Johnny Kelley.
