The Latest List of American Fork Candidates

There's still only the incumbent running for mayor, but there are now four city council candidates. The filing period runs through Wednesday afternoon.

As of the end of business last Friday, the following have filed for elective office in American Fork, according to City Record Dick Colborn. The filing period runs through this Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

Mayor

  • Heber M. Thompson (incumbent)

City Council (2 seats available)

  • Heidi K. Rodeback (incumbent; I'm working on her campaign)
  • Dale O. Gunther (incumbent)
  • Andy Dobmann (ran in 2005, defeated in the primary, seems to be a good man)
  • Robert L. Godfrey (I don't know him)

If no one else files for mayor, that race will be exquisitely boring and will in my opinion send an unfortunate and undesirable message to the incumbent.

If at least one more candidate files for city council, there will be a September primary to reduce the field to four. Otherwise, the general election will have these four candidates on the ballot, and the two with the most votes will get the seats.

I'll provide another update after the filing period closes.
